The VRC creates a data fusion environment where computer graphics and alphanumeric elements can be integrated to allow its users better comprehension of engineering design, simulation studies, complex modeling and a host of other scientific, educational, and entertainment related applications.
The Virtual Reality Center provides the capability for high-end display, projection and simulation facilities for a variety of applications using the latest 3D and other interactive technologies. Along with the Virtual Reality Center comes the Visualization Area Network (VAN) facility which will provide networking capabilities with other similiar facilities worldwide for collaborative research.
Examples of Projects using the VRC:
Virtual exploration of Mars, expeditions to the Arctic and Antartic |
Training in maneuvering heavy machinery on land, sea and air using a special simulator |
